LIVING WATER IS WORKING WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS TO RESTORE THE BIODIVERSITY IN THE HIKURANGI CATCHMENT.

Currently Living Water is supporting the following projects:

  • Mangahahuru and Mangawhero stream restoration – rehabilitation of stream banks and riparian planting.
  • Floodplain oxbow restoration – working with Whangarei District Council, Northland Fish and Game and hapῡ Ngati Hau to restore two oxbows contiguous with the Wairua River GPWMR.
  • On-farm work to reconnect isolated remnants of wetlands and protect threatened and rare ecosystems and species.  
  • Supporting the NKONWM-led healthy tuna (eel) project and funding Whitebait Connections freshwater education programme in local schools.
