Projects in the pŪkorokoro/miranda catchment

LIVING WATER IS WORKING WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATIONS TO HELP RESTORE THE BIODIVERSITY IN THIS CATCHMENT.

Currently we are supporting the following projects:

  • International advocacy work led by the Pῡkorokoro Miranda Naturalists’ Trust to support the protection of shorebird habitats with a focus on North Eastern China sites along the East Asian Australasian Flyway Network.
  • On-farm work to develop farm biodiversity plans and support restoration activities around stream beds and riparian margins.
  • Restoration and enhancement of shorebird habitat with a focus on the east coast shoreline including fencing, pest and weed management and habitat creation.
  • The acquisition of additional land to create extra habitat at the Pūkorokoro/Miranda Stream mouth.
